DarkKnight

I have been in the Correctional field for almost 13 years. I have held many different positions in my Department, and I am a true believer that you should treat people the way you want to be treated. One of the biggest issues I've seen in my department regarding seperation is between the Correctional Deputies and the Patrol Deputies. If you are fortunate enough to work for a Sheriff's Dept that employs both, then you will know what I am talking about. It seems like the majority of patrol deputies have trouble remembering where they got their start from. They feel that their job is more important than the correctional deputies' job, and it shows in their attitude. They need to realize that one job is not more important than the other. Each job requires different responsibilities and risks. Feeling superior to your peers will only result in failure somewhere down the road. Eventually, you will be in a position where you will need to rely on other resources for help, and those with the most knowledge may not want to assist you. Like the old saying goes, what comes around goes around. So be respectful to others, and others will respect you. Stay Safe!
