| Iowa Killer Dies In Jail |

A 55-year-old Davenport man serving a life sentence at the Iowa State Penitentiary in Fort Madison for first-degree murder and first-degree robbery died Wednesday, according to a news release from the Iowa Department of Corrections. Steven Howard Deitz was convicted in the Nov. 25, 2005, death of Charles Lee “Chris” Nixon of 5117 Pine St. Deitz died of natural causes from liver failure, the Department of Corrections said. On Nov. 25, 2005, according to police reports, Nixon’s roommate found blood in the house and Nixon missing. Davenport police then began a search for Nixon and the two men who had been staying with him, one of whom was Deitz. The other was William Robert Smith, now 39. Read More. |
