Corrections officer injured by inmate |

Additional law enforcement was dispatched to the Gage County Jail Sunday evening to assist with a distress call from on-duty correctional workers. According to a press release from the Gage County Sheriff’s Department, 28-year-old Joshua Barber caused a disturbance in his cell block and was not complying with orders from correctional officers to enter his cell. Correctional officers entered the cell block shortly before 7:30 p.m. to escort Barber into his holding cell and a struggle ensued. During the struggle, one of the Correctional Officers sustained an injury to their forehead. The Correctional Officer deployed their Taser on the inmate, which alleviated the situation.
