Dad brings son in prison drugs, gets prison term |

A Grand Rapids man who admitted he brought drugs to his son in prison was sentenced Tuesday, Aug. 12, in Ionia County 8th Circuit Court. Daniel Brooks, 54, was sentenced by Judge Suzanne Hoseth Kreeger to serve 25 months to 20 years with the Michigan Department of Corrections, with credit for one day already served, plus fines, fees and costs. Brooks pleaded guilty in June to one count of controlled substance — delivery/manufacture of heroin less than 50 grams. In exchange for his plea, a second count with a habitual offender notice was dismissed, and per a Killebrew agreement, his sentence would be at the lower end of his sentencing guidelines.
