ACLU claims prison inmate assaulted by white supremacist group |

The ACLU of Nebraska filed a lawsuit in federal court on behalf of Joshua Franklin against Department of Corrections Director Michael Kenney, three wardens and an assistant warden. ACLU Legal Director Amy Miller says while Franklin was awaiting sentencing in Sarpy County for forgery and writing bad checks he was assaulted by another inmate who is a member of a white supremacist group. Miller says Franklin filed multiple complaints to inform prison officials of the danger he faced and requested to be housed in a different location from the attacker. She says not only did they place Franklin in the same facility but in the same housing unit. Read More. |
