MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa —One of two men who escaped from work release facilities remains at large right now. The Iowa Department of Corrections said Christopher Showalter is still on escape status. Phillip Bittner is back in custody. Christopher Allen Showalter, 36 was placed on escape status when he failed to return to the Ottumwa Work Release Facility from his job. Showalter was ordered to work release after his parole was revoked in May. He had been convicted of domestic abuse assault causing bodily injury. Read More. |
