Corrections Officers Day marked at ceremony in Trenton |

Corrections officers from throughout the state joined Department of Corrections Commissioner Gary Lanigan, President of PBA Local 105 Lance Lopez and guest speaker Mechele Jennings Morris, director of training at University Correctional Health Care, Rutgers at the annual Correction Officers Ceremony held Thursday at the Department of Corrections Central Office in Trenton. This day is a tribute to Officer Fred Baker who was killed on duty when he was stabbed in the back by an inmate at the Bayside State Prison in Leesburg on July 30. His death and the sacrifices made by members of this profession in the line of duty are commemorated on this day each year in New Jersey. Baker's sister was on hand for the ceremony. Read More. |
