Female inmate hangs herself in Bedford Hills jail |

A 49-year-old female inmate hanged herself while serving time in a jail in Westchester County, according to authorities. Evonne Williams hanged herself last Friday in the Bedford Hills Correctional Facility, according to the Westchester County Medical Examiner. She died of asphyxia at Northern Westchester Hospital. Her death was ruled a suicide, according to the medical examiner. Williams entered the jail in Bedford Hills in April 2012 after being convicted of possession of stolen property in Onondaga County. She was sentenced to serve between one and a half to three years in prison, and scheduled to be released in December 2015. Williams previously served jail time for identity theft and forgery, according to state records. Read More. |
