Shawnee County commissioners Thursday approved a comprehensive plan and budget for the community corrections department that shows an increase in spending over last year. The commission also approved a grant the department applies for yearly. The department of community corrections comprehensive plan spells out how money will be spent on resources for those in the county’s probation system and in other programs aimed at reducing crime. Because of regional partnership, the plan and budget also covers service in counties in the state’s 2nd Judicial District which includes Jackson, Jefferson, Pottawatomie and Wabuansee Counties. The budget calls for $1,254,857.05 this year, up about $63,000 from the previous year, for Shawnee County and $302,098 for the 2nd Judicial District, and increase of just under $16,000. Read More. |
