Inmate Death under Investigation |

The Connecticut Department of Correction is investigating the death of an inmate at the Carl Robinson Correctional Institution in Enfield. At approximately 6:30 a.m. on Friday, May 13, 2016 correctional staff conducting a routine tour observed an inmate in his cell with a ligature tied to his neck. He was the only inmate in the cell at the time. Correctional and medical staff immediately initiated emergency and life saving measures. The inmate was transported to local area hospital where he was pronounced dead at 7:24 a.m. The inmate is identified as 52-year-old Christopher Lyons of Simsbury, CT. He was a sentenced inmate serving a three and one half year sentence for Illegal Possession of Child Pornography in the 2nd Degree. He had entered the Carl Robinson Correctional Institution on September 23, 2015. The exact manner and cause of death will be determined by the State Medical Examiner’s Office. The Department of Correction Security Division and the Connecticut State Police are investigating the death. |
