AUBURN, Wash. -- A Department of Corrections officer and a shooting suspect were both wounded in a gun battle outside an Auburn apartment complex Tuesday afternoon.

An ATF task force was at the complex in the 3400 block of 'I' Street NE just before 3 p.m. to serve a warrant for gun crimes and confronted their suspect in the parking lot near his car, according to ATF spokesperson Meredith Davis.

Their suspect tried to get into his car and drive away, but officers were able to user a Taser and stun their suspect, Davis said.

That's when the man then pulled out a gun and opened fire at the officers, spurring a gun battle between the man and multiple officers, according to Cmdr. Steve Stocker with Auburn Police.
