NIANTIC — A 25-year-old inmate at York Correctional Institution attempted to escape by climbing a fence, corrections officials said. Corrections officers discovered about 2:20 p.m. that an inmate was trying to climb the perimeter fence of the facility, officials from the Department of Corrections said.
