Description: The CEA Executive Board and 2007 Conference Chairs invite you to attend the 62nd CEA Conference in Atlanta, GA; the big city full of Southern hospitality. Workshop Proposals may be submitted electronically on CEA's web site, ceanational.org. Additional information may be found here as well. For your arrival into Atlanta there are several transportation options. From Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport to the Marriott, current transportation rates are: • taxi - $30.00 per person and $2.00 for each additional person • The Atlanta Link (a downtown shuttle) - 1 way $16.50, round trip $29.00 • MARTA (a city-wide subway; drop off location is several blocks from the hotel) - $1.75 each way If traveling by automobile, please refer to the directions provided at the bottom of the page. Parking is valet and is $19.00 per day at the hotel. Several additional parking lots are within a few blocks of the hotel. The Conference will be held at the Marriott Marquis in Downtown Atlanta. Hotel staff are familiar with the area, readily available and are willing to assist in any way they can. The Marquis provides many guest room amenities and a selection of in house restaurants and lounges. Hotel room rates vary; a single or double room is $127.50, a triple is $137.50 and a quadruple is $147.50. These rates are subject to applicable taxes. The Conference will offer a variety of sessions to suit your needs. Sessions will include topics such as: Juvenile Correctional Education, Adult Correctional Education, Literacy, Vocational Programs, Life Skills/Transition Services, Administration, and SIGs (Special Interest Groups). A beautifully designed Program will assist you in selecting the workshops most appropriate for your unique environment. Wednesday will give everyone the opportunity to meet with Special Interest Groups (SIGs) and participate in round table discussions. Vendors and Exhibiters from many companies and organizations will be showcased throughout the Conference. You are encouraged to stroll through the Exhibit/Vendor area to view the latest trends and materials for correctional education. Vendors and Exhibiters make so many of our events possible; please thank them for their contributions. We will start off the Conference on July 8 with the President’s Reception, recognize award precipitants at Monday’s Awards Luncheon and honor the Teacher of the Year from each Region with a celebration on Tuesday evening. The theme for this event is “Big City – Southern Hospitality”. Let you imagination run wild with ideas. Atlanta has many magnificent attractions including: The World of Coca-Cola, the GA Aquarium, The Martin Luther King, Jr. National Historic Site, The Jimmy Carter Library and Museum, Zoo Atlanta, tours of Turner Field (and hopefully a game), the Fox Theater, and the home of Margaret Mitchell, the author of Gone With the Wind. Restaurants and lounges are on every block. Options include Pittypat’s Porch (for true Southern dining), Gibney’s Pub (which is directly across the street from the hotel), Hard Rock Café, Ruth’s Chris Steak House, a wide variety of ethnic eateries, and The Varsity – the world’s largest drive-in and an Atlanta tradition for over 60 years. Traveling south on I-75/85: Exit onto Courtland Traveling north on I-85: Exit onto International Boulevard Street/GA State University (Exit 249A). Take a (Exit 248C). Take International Boulevard to Peachtree right onto International Boulevard. Turn right Center Avenue. Turn right; hotel is two blocks on the onto Peachtree Center Avenue.
