| Description: | The West Central Wardens and Superintendents Association (WCWSA) is hosting its annual conference in Madison, Wisconsin, on September 10-13, 2007. Each year at its annual conference the WCWSA provides training opportunities with a variety of correctional professional and experts in the fields of law enforcement, technology, law and other topics of interest. It is a chance to interact with peers from correctional facilities throughout the United States. The theme of this year’s conference is Leadership and Cultural Change. Dr. Bert Useem, Professor of Sociology at Purdue University is the featured speaker. He is the author of three books: State of Siege: US Prison Riots 1971-1986; Resolution of Prison Riots and The Challenge of Mass Incarceration. He has been director of research institutes at the University of New Mexico and University of Louisville. He will be discussing leadership, organizational structure ant the element of surprise.
