| Description: | The Department of Community Corrections and Rehabilitation envisions a safe environment where children and adults are responsible, law-abiding and add value to our community; and communities demonstrate the capacity for reconciliation, encouragement and the full incorporation of all our people. The County Home School (CHS) is a state-licensed residential treatment center for juveniles age 12 to 20, committed by the court for felony level offenses. The CHS provides a safe, secure healthy environment on a 167 acre site in Minnetonka, just 10 miles west of Minneapolis. The campus includes residential cottages, a transitional living program, a school with gymnasium, an administration and services building, horse barn, indoor riding arena, and recreational areas. Residents are committed by the Juvenile Court to one of the following programs that are offered: Adolescent Male Treatment Program (AMTP), Adolescent Female Treatment Program (AFTP), Adolescent Female Community Service Program (AFTP) or Juvenile Sex Offender Program (JSOP). The Assistant Superintendent will perform a variety of tasks in support of the County Home School programs, act as an agency liaison with internal and external organizations and other duties assisting the Division Manager. This position is classified as a corrections program manager in the Hennepin County job classification system. Please note: The CHS is located at 14300 County Road 62, Minnetonka, MN. (Bus service to the County Home School location is limited so you may need your own transportation.) Duties and responsibilities include: • Establish and modify division policies and procedures consistent with department policies • Ensure adherence to relevant local, state and licensing standards relevant to the county home school • Direct the activity of Corrections Institutional Supervisors • Monitor the work of the division to ensure that it is grounded in evidence based practices for the day-to-day delivery of services • Ensure adherence to the Guiding Principles of Juvenile Services • Follow and implement quality assurance methods • Develop, organize and present data regarding divisional activities • Serve as a divisional liaison with other divisions within the department • Be available to assist on off duty hours Ideal Candidates must have: • One of the following: o Master's degree in criminal justice, behavioral science or business, correctional or public administration or equivalent and three years of professional experience in corrections o Bachelor's degree in one of the above-cited fields plus four years of the required experience, one year of which must have been in administration or supervision • Experience managing budgets • Knowledge of corrections administration at the senior level • Ability to see and plan the overall vision of the County Home School • Ability to recognize and respect culture differences and provide culturally appropriate services Ability to demonstrate the Hennepin County Managerial Competencies Selection Process: Invitations to interview will be based upon an assessment of education and experience.
