Description: GENERAL SUMMARY Under limited supervision, performs a variety of duties related to the accreditation process according to Cornell Corrections policies and procedures to ensure accreditation compliance. MAJOR DUTIES Responsible for insuring compliance of contract requirements. Identify corrective action needed to bring procedures into compliance and initiate follow-up audits to verify corrective measures have been taken. Performs audits and surveys to ensure compliance with established contractual agreements, facility procedures and state and federal laws and regulations. Audits and oversees maintenance of all ACA files. Operation of office equipment including PCs and word processing programs, maintenance of office records and communications with top management officials. Organize and coordinate facility-operating activities; interact with facility. Cornell and personnel at all organizational levels to gather information; prepare reports and field communications; respond to written and verbal requests for information; perform non-routine administrative tasks, prepare correspondences. Investigate assigned problems independently; compile and analyze data and prepare reports for executive staff so they have the necessary information available to make sound decisions. Attend and participate in various meetings. Share observations and provide recommendations to excecutive staff relating to facility and staff as they relate to identifying and solving problems. Complete in-service training to meet the requirements for continued personal and professional self-development. (Full-time employees 40 hours per year and proportionate hours for all other classifications of employees) Comply with Cornell Corrections work rules and policies as explained in the company Employee Handbook, applicable Texas laws and the Facility policy and procedures manual; and respond positively to directives from management to ensure conformance to standards. Communicate effectively with all levels of staff in a manner that promotes a team spirit and a sense of cooperation. EDUCATION: Must have High School diploma or GED and with a degree, two years experience in correctional or social services agency is preferred but not mandatory Without a degree, four years experience in correctional or social services agency is preferred but not mandatory JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Express thoughts logically in English in both written and verbal form using correct grammar and work independently and write reports Must have a customer service oriented attitude and able to interact well with all levels of staff/inmates. Able to plan schedules and effectively communicate with staff and inmates. PHYSICAL LIMITATIONS: Frequent walking, standing, sitting, stair climbing, bending, stooping, lifting (25 lbs. maximum); gross and fine manual dexterity; must be able to visually observe employees; hear, understand, and interpret employee behavior; detect odors through sense of smell. Communicate verbally and in written form. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Will be required at times to work in inclement weather Office setting where areas are well illuminated and are relatively quiet and are temperature controlled; will be required to make daily rounds throughout the facility. May be assigned additional duties as required to ensure orderly operation of the facilities Must be drug free as determined through urine testing at initial hiring and on a random basis throughout employment JOB REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to pass pre-employment physical, criminal background investigation, and drug screen Must have a valid NM driver's license Must be at least 21 years old
