| Description: | THIS POSITION REQUIRES MANAGEMENT COURSEWORK/TRAINING AND 5 YEARS CORRECTIONAL MANAGEMENT EXPERIENCE. TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Plans, directs and evaluates the operation of the institution Manages a combination of major programs including security, habilitation and treatment, and operations. Formulates administrative policies and procedures. Evaluates and determines program goals and operational activities. Determines organizational structure and develops plans and procedures of the work operations of various sections and units. Develops, controls, and oversees the facility budget including formulating and preparing the budget, forecasting needs, ensuring expenditures are within budgetary limits. Participates as a member of the division's management team. Collaborates and liaisons with other wardens, community groups and leaders. Supervises management staff and oversees personnel related actions such as hiring, promotion, transfer, discipline, training, and motivation of institutional staff. DESIRABLE QUALIFICATION: A Bachelor's degree in a related discipline or correctional leadership and management coursework/training AND 5 years of work experience in the management of a major division or a correctional institution; Considerable knowledge of the laws, rules, regulations and policies governing the Department of Correction. |
