| Description: | Overview Department of Corrections seeks a knowledgeable and experienced team member whose principal responsibilities will be to oversee risk reduction program contracts and contracted staff. An interest and ability to work in close collaboration and participation with multiple criminal justice and communtiy parterns to address individual and collective needs is required. General Job Description Administrative, supervisory and clinical oversight to programs and program staff contracted by the Department of Corrections. Provides clinical consultation regarding inmates/offenders participation in program services within the Department of Corrections. Manages substance abuse and violence reduction program contracts and contracted staff. Meets regularly with clinical, correctional and program staff and contracted providers to discuss individual inmates' program needs, plans, progress and related concerns. Collaborates closely with DOC Health Services, particularly in review of Adult Disability program accommodations. May provide consultation to staff throughout the Department, including monitoring and participating in on going risk assessment training and certification. Work is performed under the supervision of the Program Services Director. All employees of the Agency of Human Services perform their respective functions adhering to four key practices: customer service, holistic service, strengths-based relationships and results orientation. Preferred Qualifications Preference given to candidates with an earned Masters degree in behavioral science or criminal justice and applicable license/s. Minimum Qualifications KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of psychology and behavioral health. Considerable knowledge of the techniques and procedures of behavioral health interventions, human development, abnormal and normal psychology, forensic settings, and clinical interventions with a correctional population. Considerable knowledge and experience in administration of the LSI-R and/or other comparable risk assessment tools, and psychometrics applicable to the populations served by the DOC. Considerable knowledge of professional standards and code of ethics applicable to behavioral health and/or psychology. Considerable knowledge of the relationship of mental illness and psychological issues to criminal behavior. Working knowledge of the principles and practices of supervision. Ability to review and monitor treatment plans for appropriateness and effectiveness. Ability to perform complex psychological assessments. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to provide leadership and accountability within the framework of the four key practices of the Agency of Human Services: customer service, holistic service, strengths-based relationships and results orientation. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Education: Master's Degree in psychology, social work or related field of behavioral health from an accredited program. Experience: Six years at a professional level as a therapist, psychometrician or mental health clinician. Preferred experience includes at least two years within a correctional or forensic facility and at least one year in a supervisory capacity. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Licensure at the appropriate levels in accordance with Vermont statutory requirements. Candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position. In accordance with AHS Policy 4.02, Hiring Standards, Vermont and/or national criminal record checks, as well as DMV and adult and child abuse registry checks, as appropriate to the position under recruitment, will be conducted on candidates, with the exception of those who are current classified state employees seeking transfer, promotion or demotion into an AHS classified position or are persons exercising re-employment (RIF) rights. Working Conditions The primary work site will be at the Corrections Central Office in Waterbury. Duties are also performed at correctional facilities housing programs and at field probation and parole offices throughout the state, frequent travel may be required, for which private means of transportation must be available. Interaction with mentally ill, and behaviorally deregulated inmates poses some risk of physical injury. Work outside of normal office hours may be anticipated. |
