Description: The mission of the Department of Community Corrections and Rehabilitation (DOCCR) is to promote community safety, community restoration, and reduce the risk of re-offense.

DOCCR currently has two vacancies for Corrections Program Managers to lead the implementation of evidence-based practices in correctional treatment programs through a variety of tasks in managing correctional programs, acting as an agency liaison with internal and external organizations, and performing other duties in support of the Division Manager. These vacancies are located at the County Home School and in Juvenile Probation.

The County Home School (CHS) is a residential treatment center licensed by the MN DOC for juveniles ages 13 to 19, placed by the court.

The CHS engages with the community and juvenile justice partners to promote community safety, community restoration, and offender change through implementation of evidence based practices.

The CHS is located in Minnetonka, just 10 miles west of Minneapolis. Operated programs include: Two short term adolescent male treatment programs; an adolescent female treatment program, and an adolescent and family sexual health services program.

Juvenile Probation (JP) engages with the community and juvenile justice partners to promote community safety, community restoration, and offender change through implementation of evidence based practices.

JP is located in downtown Minneapolis with community based probation offices in North, South and suburban Hennepin County.

The primary duties and responsibilities of these positions include:
  • Develop and implement policy and procedure adherent to department polices and relevant local, state, and federal laws.
  • Analyze data regarding divisional activities and formulate comprehensive proposals for programming recommendations.
  • Plan and oversee implementation of evidence based practices in the delivery of services.
  • Participate in the hiring and management/supervision of staff.
  • Serve as a divisional liaison with other DOCCR divisions, other departments, system stakeholders, labor unions, and community contacts.
  • Recognize and respect cultural differences and provide culturally appropriate services.
  • Participate in administration of the division/facility budget.
  • Direct division staff in the absence of the Superintendent/Division Manager.

Best Qualified Candidates will have:
  • One of the following:
  • A master's degree in criminal justice, behavioral science or business, correctional or public administration or equivalent plus at least three years of professional experience in corrections.
  • A bachelor's degree in one of the above-cited fields plus at least four years of professional experience in corrections, one year of which must have been in administration or supervision.
  • At least five years experience supervising staff in a human service organization, residential treatment setting, institution or community probation.
  • Knowledge of evidence based practices for effective correctional programming; experience in assessing and developing effective, evidence based programs.
  • Skill in formulating proposals and implementing programs through project planning and management.
  • Experience providing collaborative services with other justice partners; ability to identify community resources.
  • Experience developing and administering a complex budget.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, PeopleSoft, and LotusNotes or similar email system.
  • Ability to work effectively with an increasingly diverse client population.
  • Ability to demonstrate the manager competencies.
