Our team of professionals is experienced and motivated, but we need you for our innovative and expanding Intensive Supervision Appearance Program (ISAP) Division. ISAP is a contracted program that BI Incorporated operates for the Alternatives to Detention (ATD) unit within Detention and Removal Operations (DRO), a division of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). ISAP Case Specialist - Job Description WHAT TO EXPECT: Case Specialists interface with a range of stakeholders including program participants and their families, community resources, our local customer contact, and BI staff. Daily interaction with program participants can vary greatly by their personal circumstance and progression through the immigration court system. The ISAP Case Specialist position is not a typical desk job. Checking in with clients at their residence to ensure they are following supervision requirements gets you out of the office and into the community. At the same time, conducting participant orientation and assessment, managing detailed case records, collecting participant travel documents, and complying with program requirements will make up a large part of your daily activities. Some participants will be supervised using electronic monitoring ankle bracelets or other technology. You will be trained on these technologies and be responsible for tracking participants compliance to related curfews and interpreting monitoring data. JOB REQUIREMENTS: Successful ISAP Case Specialists will be able to thrive in an ever-changing environment and display a high degree of professionalism and sound judgment at all times. The primary skills and qualifications needed for this position include: • Strong interpersonal communication skills to effectively interface with program stakeholders (employees, community contacts, government officials and program participants) • Ability to clearly articulate program rules, instructions and court orders • Ability to compose succinct, accurate written reports • Demonstrated sound judgment and even temperament. Ability to maintain self-control in stressful situations, such as interpersonal confrontations or emergencies, or defuse hostile or unstable situations • Demonstrated tact when interacting with the public • Strong attention to detail and problem solving skills • Ability to display cultural sensitivity and understanding • Basic knowledge of immigration laws, regulations and procedures • Computer proficiency including Microsoft Office and the Internet • Ability to interpret electronic monitoring messages and daily summary reports BACKGROUND & EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: • Bachelors Degree in Sociology, Psychology, Social Work, Criminal Justice or related field • At least two years relevant experience in a field related to law, social work, detention, corrections or similar field • Experience interacting within multicultural environment • Bilingual Spanish/English If you think you have what it takes to be a successful Case Specialist, please complete an Employment Application as the next step in the selection process.
