Description: | The Supervisory Detention Officer provides on-site field supervision of secure detention facilities. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Provide supervision, guidance and on-the-job training to improve and reinforce the critical nature of required security • assure consistent delivery of service regardless of shift or location, for taking immediate action to correct problems detected and for responding whenever called upon • Maintain full staffing by filling any open posts with reserve or stand-by personnel and managing “call-offs” due to illness or other reasons • Brief incumbents during muster and post checks regarding any changes in Post Orders, or any unusual or emergency situations • Conduct on-the-job training to correct deficiencies in performance, or to strengthen and refresh knowledge of critical skills and issues • Report any emergency situation to the contracting officer and management • Conduct administrative investigations of criminal and non-criminal incidents to include personal injury and traffic accidents (if applicable) • Document incidents with complete and accurate verbal and written reports • Review the sign-in/out sheets to ensure proper timekeeping • Manage break schedules and ensure all incumbents receive breaks and proper relief • Provide oversight and management and direct reporting of head counts • Assists dealing with any incident management • Inspect every area of the facility where detainees are present, at least once per shift • Assume duties of management in his/her absence QUALIFICATIONS: Required: • Minimum of one year of experience as a detention officer and two years of successful experience in field supervision (civilian community law enforcement, commercial or industrial guard serve, or security service supervisory positions) • The two year requirement may be satisfied by completion of a career development program that includes work-related experience, training, or college credits a level of achievement equivalent to the basic requirements • U.S. citizen and must have resided in the United States of America for three out of the last five years • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent (GED) • Current knowledge of PBNDS 2011 and ACA and DHS ICE National Detention Standards and regulations on the operation of detention/correctional facilities • Excellent written and oral communication • Proficient computer and office software skills • Trustworthy • U.S. citizen or a person lawfully admitted into the United States for permanent residence and have resided in the U.S. for the last five years • Obtain and maintain a government clearance • Pass a criminal background and consumer credit check (no criminal record) • Pass all pre-employment and random drug tests • Pass a medical examination and meet health requirements • At least 21 years of age • Possess a valid state driver's license Preferred: • Military, security, corrections or law enforcement experience preferred • Bilingual We are a Federal Contractor and comply with the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA).
