Description: | PLEASE APPLY ONLINE AT: http://agency.governmentjobs.com/alachua/default.cfm This is a responsible, professional criminal justice position providing offender supervision and counseling, and/or pretrial release investigations in the Alachua County Department of Court Services. An employee assigned to this classification attends court hearings and monitors court proceedings in order to provide judicial support as a liaison between the department, the court system, and other criminal justice and support agencies. Work is performed under the general direction of a higher level Court Services Supervisor and is reviewed through conferences, reports, and observation of results obtained. Examples of Duties: ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION Counsels and supervises specialized probation caseload; and/or, completes pretrial release investigations and develops release/detention recommendations for the court. Makes presentations at various court proceedings including pretrial release recommendations at first appearance hearings, and testimony and recommendations at violation hearings. Conducts interviews to assess risk and needs. Identifies appropriate treatment and social services resources. Develops release and/or supervision plans. Recommends appropriate options to the Court. Conducts office visits, field visits, family, community and agency contacts, in order to instruct clients, and to verify and monitor their behavior for the Court. Assures offender compliance with all special conditions of court orders including collection of court ordered fees. Works with offenders to develop payment options. Prepares and maintains confidential records. Prepares and submits reports on offenders including investigations, orders, modifications, revocations, etc., as necessary. Reviews documents for lower level staff. Uses all related computer software and information systems. Trains and trouble shoots for lower level staff. Provides liaison between the department, the court system, and local and state social services agencies which provide services for offenders. Performs related work as required.
