| Description: | The Department of Health & Social Service, Division of Juvenile Justice is recruiting to fill a Recreation Therapist II at McLaughlin Youth Center (MYC). As a Recreation Therapist II at MYC, the successful applicant will be responsible for development and implementation of a therapeutic recreational and adventure based experiential therapy program for a resident population of detained juvenile delinquents. Key responsibilities include:•Plan, organize, and implement individual and group recreational programs, utilizing therapeutic techniques including Trauma Informed Care to motivate the socialization and constructive use of leisure time. •Facilitate both high and low elements Challenge Course groups. •Lead, instruct, supervise, and encourage residents in individual and group activities of a physical, social, and cultural nature. •Provide training and /or direct the activities of nonprofessional employees and volunteers. •Request supplies for recreational activities. •Develop, coordinate, and post monthly activity schedules. •Plan and coordinate institutional holiday and special event activities. •Develop and coordinate community resources. •Gather statistical data, maintain records, and prepare reports This position will be required to work a variety of shifts which includes evening hours and weekends. |
