| Description: | Coordinates the work of probation and parole officers and staff in an assigned district. Acts as supervisor in absence of district supervisor. Inspects and investigates probation and parole officers' work to assure compliance with policies and procedures. Conducts special assignments or investigations. Interprets department policies and procedures to staff and make recommendations for changes. Performs the duties of a probation and parole officer as required. Provides all client services as mandated by law, regulation or policy. Performs duties related to the training of front-line probation and parole officers. Assists in developing curriculum for in-service and pre-service training. Identifies training needs for front-line staff. Upon appointment, employees in this class may be required to maintain a valid driver's license and required to drive a licensed vehicle. This status may be necessary for the length of time in this class. If this is necessary it will be listed in the specific position description for that position. Applicants and employees in positions which perform job duties that may require contact with offenders in the custody or supervision of the Department of Corrections or with youth in the care, custody, or supervision of the Department of Juvenile Justice must meet qualifications pursuant to the federal Prison Rape Elimination Act, 28 C.F.R.115.17 and 115.317.
