Description: | The Department of Corrections is seeking highly motivated and qualified individuals for the position of Psychiatrist for the Washington State Penitentiary (WSP) located in Walla Walla, WA. This recruitment will remain open until filled. Walla Walla is known for its world-class wineries. With more than 100 wineries representing a wide range of varieties, it doesn't take long to see why. Washington State Penitentiary (WSP) is a 2000 bed facility for high and medium custody men. It is located just outside the city, farms and vineyards of Walla Walla. Four separate facilities exist within the institution, each of which houses a different custody level of offender. WSP is currently engaged in major facility construction; replacing old facilities with newer high custody housing units. WSP has just opened a new standalone health care building with inpatient and outpatient medical and mental health care and a six chair dental operatory. The Department has several options for providing mental health care to those who require treatment. All major institutions can provide temporary or short-term in-patient psychiatric care for crisis management and stabilization. Special Instructions: | QUALIFICATIONS: Board certified or eligible for certification from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, Inc. - AND - The ability to obtain a Washington state license before the commencement of employment. * As a member of the Mental Health Team, you will be required to provide on-call services regarding offender mental health issues on a rotational basis. On-call requirements may be in the form of telephone calls from staff members and/or facility visits in order to provide services to offenders after core business hours.
