Must satisfactorily complete local, state and national criminal history and fingerprint checks. Successful completion of a pre-employment physical examination is required prior to employment. Must have Florida Correctional Officer certificate and meet any other Correctional Officer requirements under Florida law and must maintain FDLE requirements related to the required corrections certification, to include mandatory annual trainings. NOTE: This position is assigned to the County Work Release Facility housing male inmates. In accordance with the Florida Model Jail Standards, Section 4.05, this position must be filled by a male. Therefore, only male applicants meeting the posted minimum requirements will be considered for this position. This is a permanent midnight shift, 12:00 midnight to 8:00 am. . Position Summary: This is responsible security work in maintaining physical custody and control of resident inmates within the Alachua County Work Release Facility. This is an emergency essential classification. Upon declaration of a disaster and/or emergency, all employees in this classification are required to work. An employee in this classification is responsible for the custody of resident inmates as well as receiving and processing inmates from the jail, enforcing disciplinary procedures for the control of resident inmate behavior and the preparation of reports and documents necessary for operational procedures. Work is performed under the direction of a higher level supervisor and is reviewed through conferences, reports, and observation of results obtained. |
