President says he wants offenders punished

Seven American officers have been reprimanded in the alleged abuse of Iraqi inmates held at a Baghdad prison.
Two of the officers have been relieved of duties.
A spokesman says President Bush has told Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld to punish anyone guilty of "shameful and appalling acts" against Iraqi prisoners.
A Senate Democrat, meanwhile, says Defense officials have known about possible abuse since January -- but Jeff Bingaman of New Mexico says they were slow to act.
