An escaped inmate wanted in connection with the break-in at the Hattiesburg Police Department has been captured. Paul Pettis, who escaped Aug. 23 from the work center in Hattiesburg, was apprehended around 3 p.m. Wednesday in Panola County by Panola County sheriff's deputies. Officials with the Panola County Sheriff's department declined comment Wednesday on Pettis' capture. Hattiesburg Police had issued warrants for Pettis' arrest in connection with the Aug. 19 break-in at the Hattiesburg police station, during which an undisclosed amount of marijuana was stolen.
