| 12 Face Drug Charges, Jail Guard Included |

A former Westmoreland jail guard and 11 others are accused of selling drugs in Vandergrift and Oklahoma Borough. Five men and three women were arrested without incident Wednesday. Four others were already in jail or in juvenile custody on charges of selling powdered or crack cocaine or marijuana, police said. Chief Joe Caporali said the arrests and others that are pending are outgrowths of investigations that started in June 2009. Each suspect was described as a street-level dealer. "That's who the public sees and when we arrest them we try to get information about the next level of seller," Caporali said. Arresting small-scale dealers directly attacks other crime, said Senior Narcotics Agent David S. Nale of the state attorney general's drug strike force based at North Huntington. Read More. |
