IT is the end of an era at HMP Lancaster Castle following the closure of the prison this week. Prison officers and staff bade farewell to their place of work in Castle Hill yesterday, Thursday, with many due to start work at nearby prisons, including HMP Lancaster Farms, next week. The last of the prisoners were vacated last Friday, and Brian Norcross, chairman of the Prison Officers Association said that an eerie silence had descended over the building. Read More. |
