Good behavior gets MDC inmates the chance to watch Super Bowl XLVI

Millions of people will watch the Super Bowl on Sunday from the comfort of their homes, probably on a nice flat screen TV.

There are a few hundred people in Bernalillo County hoping they'll get to watch the game on a small old-school tube.

Good behavior gives inmates at the Metropolitan Detention Center the chance to watch the New England Patriots play the New York Giants in Super XLVI, jail officials said.

"You get extremely good behavior leading up to (the Super Bowl), something they do they don't want to ruin," says Cpt. Jonathan Thomas, a veteran corrections office who’s been at MDC for 15 years.

The 72 inmates in MDC’s Echo Unit can't wait for Super Bowl Sunday.
