State prison policy ignoring safety

In response to the article titled "Violence, population decrease in NY prisons," I find the argument appalling. First and foremost the correction officer force is a demoralized work force due to all the recent cuts and policy changes during the past few years. In a correctional setting when you are forced to do more with less, it usually means that someone gets hurt or killed. Not a week goes by without an assault to a correction officer reported in the media. How much more can these officers take? Do not theses officers deserve to go home injury free to their families?
