NEWPORT — An inmate serving a sentence for second-degree murder in Vermont has been found guilty of spitting on a corrections officer.
Corrections officers said 26-year-old Donald Griggs already had punched a wall, injured his hand and cut his wrists on that day in September 2010. He kept threatening to spit on the officers who placed him a restraint chair. He was offered medications to calm him down, but spit them out.
