ALTONA, N.Y. — Six state prison inmates and a corrections officer are recovering from injuries suffered when their van collided with a car on a northern New York road. A spokeswoman for the state Department of Corrections tells the Press-Republican of Plattsburgh (http://bit.ly/PtwpdZ ) that the inmates had been working at Clinton Correctional Facility in Dannemora and were returning to the prison in nearby Altona when the accident occurred Monday afternoon.
