Ex-Ga. corrections deputy guilty of embezzlement |

Fulton County prosecutors say an ex-Georgia Department of Corrections deputy director has pleaded guilty to embezzling more than $20,000 from the agency. District Attorney's spokeswoman Yvette Jones says 42-year-old Benjamin Hopkins was indicted on 35 counts of identity fraud for using purchasing privileges with a government contractor to buy electronics for his personal use. Hopkins pleaded guilty in Fulton County Magistrate Court Wednesday and was sentenced to eight years of probation. An investigation was launched in late 2010 after a vendor got suspicious when an Xbox game system and two iPods were charged to the department.
