A Collier County corrections officer has been fired and arrested after allegedly setting up a deal with an inmate.

According to the report, it all started when an inmate at the Naples Jail Center told a deputy that James Brooks-- another deputy-- asked him to steal a high-end laptop and sell it to brooks for half the price once he was out of jail.

The inmate agreed to work with detectives to set Brooks up.

Once the inmate was released, detectives tracked a series of phone calls between the two.

Brooks was arrested once he made the exchange with the inmate.

Brooks, a corporal in the agency's corrections department, is charged with dealing in stolen property, conspiracy to commit grand theft, and trafficking an opiate or derivative.

Brooks is an 8 year veteran with the Collier County Sheriff's Office.
