Jail inmate dies after apparent suicide

ST. GEORGE — A Northern Utah prison inmate being housed at the Purgatory Correctional Facility has died a week after correctional officers found him unconscious in his cell following an apparent suicide attempt, according to the jail’s director.

David Randall Finch, 35, who listed an Ogden address with the Weber County court, was found April 7 during a cell check at dinnertime, Washington County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Jake Schultz said Tuesday.

Schultz would not comment on any specifics related to Finch’s condition, citing an open investigation. He would only say that Finch was found unconscious and transported to Dixie Regional Medical Center.
