PINCKNEYVILLE -- Emergency management officials, law enforcement personnel and healthcare professionals got a taste Wednesday of what evacuating the Perry County Jail in the wake of a tornado might require. Fire trucks and ambulances arrived at the scene to transport more than 40 actors and players who impersonated inmates and "walking wounded" from the jail to Pinckneyville Community Hospital and Marshall Browning Hospital in Du Quoin. Some of the inmates were handcuffed together and lined up against a fence on the back side of the jail while others were carried out of the jail on stretchers. Read More. |
