Iowa prison population is rising again |

DES MOINES | Iowa's prison population is rising again. The average number of inmates rose slightly to 8,117 for the 12-month period that ended on June 30. That reversed a downward trend that had seen releases outpace admissions in four of the previous six fiscal years, according to data compiled by the state Department of Corrections.
