Earthquake safety concerns results in Napa inmate transfers to Solano jails |

The Napa County Department of Corrections received a court order on Thursday to transfer approximately 60 inmates to Solano County jail facilities due to earthquake concerns. "The safety of our staff and inmates has always been and remains our top priority. Non-structural damage sustained from the earthquake has created safety concerns and requires the movement of inmates from certain areas of the facility in order for the County to properly assess necessary repairs," said Lenard Vare, director of corrections. The Napa County Hall of Justice and Jail Facility were inspected following the Aug. 24 earthquake. The entire building was determined to be structurally sound, but use of the building was restricted for correctional purposes only pending non-structural repairs. Read More. |
