Wyoming lawmakers look at prison, judicial reforms |

CHEYENNE - State lawmakers are planning to explore options to curb the growth of Wyoming's prison population and its impact on the state budget. The Joint Judiciary Interim Committee agreed last week to ask legislative leaders for an interim study that would look at ways to cut prison admissions and reduce inmates' stays in the state facilities. This includes potentially revising the state's drug sentencing and parole policies. The decision comes as the state is partnering with the National Governors Association and The Pew Charitable Trusts to study how well the state's corrections system is working. Read More. |
