Court: Illinois inmate must pay prison costs |

LINCOLN, Ill. (AP) - An Illinois appeals court has ruled that a Logan Correctional Center inmate must pay nearly $20,000 from a lawsuit settlement he received toward the cost of his incarceration. The Fourth District Appellate Court recently made the ruling against Johnnie Melton, 49, a Cook County inmate imprisoned at the Lincoln facility on drug charges, The (Bloomington) Pantagraph reported. Melton received the money from a wrongful death lawsuit involving his mother. Read More. |
