An early birthday present has helped police to capture an escaped prisoner in Palmerston North today. Daniel Roe, was listening to his week-old police scanner this morning, which his wife, Emma, gave for his imminent 38th birthday, when he overheard that police had started a manhunt after a supervised prisoner fled a working party in the Manawatu township between 9 and 9.30am. The couple was intrigued but headed out grocery shopping before rushing home to keep monitoring the unfolding drama when they heard police sirens. Read More. |
