Inmate was driver of hit-and-run vehicle

Reading police successfully played the waiting game to nab the suspect in a hit-and-run crash involving a school van.

Officers simply waited for him to return on curfew to a corrections center.

Police said Richard A. Unangst left his photo identification from the Wernersville Community Corrections Center in South Heidelberg Township in the car that he bailed from after it collided with the van Thursday about 3 p.m. at Eighth and Franklin streets.

The state Department of Corrections facility provides pre-release services for incarcerated offenders.
