OC Police Academy graduates 48 corrections officers

LAKEWOOD – The Ocean County Police Academy graduated a class of 48 new corrections officers on Wednesday, representing law enforcement agencies throughout the state. The Ocean County Corrections Department had the most officers in the class with 24 new corrections officers who are needed to staff the Ocean County Jail, which opened a $64 million addition in 2011. The starting salaries for each new officer is $38,000. County Administrator Carl W. Block said about half of the new corrections officers are replacing retiring officers.
