N.H. prison, veterans home visits suspended due to flu

Concerns over the flu have prompted two New Hampshire institutions to restrict visitation this week.

Yesterday afternoon, the New Hampshire Veterans Home in Tilton announced plans to suspend visitation indefinitely starting today “to protect the health of its residents, staff and the public” as it deals with several cases involving “upper respiratory infections” among residents. The suspension applies to family, friends and service organizations, according to a press release.

The day before, the New Hampshire Department of Corrections decided to cut off visits to the state men’s prison in Concord because inmates in several housing units started showing flu symptoms. The suspension will remain in effect at least until Monday, according to a press release.
