Separate stabbings at 2 Alabama prisons leave 1 prisoner dead, another wounded |

MONTGOMERY, Alabama — One inmate was killed and another wounded in two separate stabbings in Alabama prisons on Wednesday, authorities said. The violence happened at the Staton Correctional Facility in Elmore; and in the St. Clair Correctional Facility in Springville, the Alabama Department of Corrections said in a statement. Scott Reed Turnlund, 29, was fatally stabbed inside the Elmore facility by another inmate around 7 p.m. Wednesday, authorities said. He died from his injuries a short time later. A 29-year-old inmate was detained as a suspect, officials said. Turnlund had served 14 of a 25 year sentence for a 2001 murder conviction in Shelby County, state officials said. Read More. |
