Mistrial declared in case against Va. man accused of killing D.C. corrections official |

ALEXANDRIA, Va. (WJLA) — A judge declared a mistrial Thursday in the case against an Alexandria man accused of killing a high-ranking District of Columbia corrections official. The mistrial was declared after jurors couldn't reach a decision on whether Dawit Seyoum, 29, was guilty of first-degree murder or not guilty by reason of insanity in the killing of 64-year-old Carolyn Cross. Cross was the deputy director of operations for the D.C. Department of Corrections. Cross was found dead in her Alexandria apartment on Sept. 7 of last year and police said Seyoum, who lived in the same complex, confessed to the crime. Read More. |
