Prison guards union calls for patience |

ALBANY – After 12 guards and administrators from Clinton Correctional Facility were put on leave Tuesday, the union representing the state's corrections officers urged for a "fair and accurate" investigation into how two inmates escaped from the maximum-security prison on June 6. Meanwhile, one of the escapees, David Sweat, remained in fair condition at Albany Medical Center, the hospital said Wednesday. The other inmate, Richard Matt, was shot and killed by police Friday during the three-week manhunt through the Adirondacks. "David Sweat remains under the care of physicians at Albany Medical Center," the hospital said. "He continues to be in fair condition and is expected to remain at Albany Medical Center for at least a few days."
