MOHAVE VALLEY — A Mohave Valley couple is angry that the man who murdered their sister is not only free, but has been hired by the New Mexico Department of Corrections. “We couldn’t believe it,” said John Bailes. “(David) VanHorn terrorized them, robbed them and burned my sister alive. He shot two cops. He should have gotten the death penalty or at least life in prison.” “It makes everything even worse that he’s out,” said Bailes’ wife, Patricia. “We just can’t understand why. He shouldn’t be walking the streets.” David John VanHorn was convicted of the murder of John Bailes’ sister, Norma Jean Clouse, in 1995 when he was 20 years old. Read More. |
